No, the water filter does not filter out viruses or organisms smaller than .2 microns.

Yes. Do not use this water filter with seawater, brackish water, or chemically contaminated water such as mining tailing ponds, or near large agricultural operations.

No. We do not recommend doing this as the 3-stage filtration process may become damaged or contaminated.

No. Do not drink water that is at or above 60°C / 140°F through this straw.

Hypothetically you can. However to keep your water filtration straw's life span at its longest we suggest using the clearest and cleanest water possible as anything less will clog the filter more quickly.

Blow the air through the mouth piece (in the opposite of normal water flow).

You can use it to drink straight from a stream while outdoors, or use it when refilling your water bottle from a tap you may be unsure about. Just be sure to not use it with seawater, brackish water, or chemically contaminated water such as mining tailing ponds, or near large agricultural operations.

Start by blowing air back through the mouthpiece (in the opposite direction of normal water flow). This will help remove the bulk of the any water left inside. Then give it a couple of quick, hard shakes and dab with a dry towel.

Note: There may be some water trapped inside the hollow fiber membrane. This is normal, and will drain out slowly over time if left standing in vertical position.

Only use clean tap or bottled water to clean the filter. Recommended to rinse with warm water, and wipe any dirt away with a clean sponge. You can remove the mouthpiece by unscrewing it counter-clockwise and clean it with warm water and dish soap. Do not allow soap of any kind to get inside the straw though. Do not use in dishwasher.

It is best to store the filter in a vertical (standing) position with a clean towel underneath to catch any trapped water than may drain out over time.

No. But it is recommended to keep them in a cool, dry place.

If you attempt to use your straw and you find yourself having the inability to draw water through it, this may indicate that the product has reached the end of its lifecycle.

If it is unused it will not expire. It can filter up to 1,000 gallons of water but this is dependent on how dirty the water you are sourcing is and how well the filter is maintained between uses.

Universal threading fits most standard single use plastic bottles. Simply remove the bottle cap and screw the bottom of the filter over the mouth piece of the bottle.

They are not recyclable. When their lifespan has ended they will need to be disposed of in the garbage.
